About Longtime

Longtime is an independent longevity project built around a simple question: what can population research responsibly tell us about living well for longer?

The site combines an original, free longevity calculator with plain-language articles about healthspan research. The calculator makes its assumptions visible, shows the factors moving an estimate, and links to a detailed methodology and limitations page. It is an educational model, not a prediction of any individual’s lifespan.

Who makes it

Longtime is created and maintained by Frank Mair, a long-time reader of longevity research. Frank is not a doctor, registered dietitian, or medical researcher. That distinction matters: the site aims to explain evidence carefully, cite its sources, and identify uncertainty rather than present personal opinion as clinical guidance. Articles are attributed to Longtime and link to their Sources sections rather than a personal byline.

What makes Longtime different

  • The calculator is original and free to use, with no signup.
  • Its model and important limitations are published rather than hidden behind a score.
  • Articles distinguish population associations from individual outcomes.
  • Sources, publication dates, material updates, and commercial relationships are disclosed.
  • Weak or incomplete work stays in draft until it meets the site’s publishing standard.

Nothing on Longtime is personal medical advice. Decisions about symptoms, medications, supplements, restrictive diets, or diagnosed conditions belong with an appropriately qualified health professional who knows your history.
