Editorial Policy
Last updated: July 25, 2026
Longtime publishes educational material about longevity and healthspan. Because health information can affect real decisions, trust matters more than novelty, volume, or a dramatic headline.
Evidence standard
Articles should link directly to the evidence behind their material claims. We prefer systematic reviews, meta-analyses, peer-reviewed primary research, clinical guidance, and public-health bodies. News reports, podcasts, books, and commercial sites can provide context, but they are not substitutes for the underlying evidence.
Writers should clearly distinguish:
- Observational associations from demonstrated causes.
- Animal or laboratory findings from human outcomes.
- Population averages from predictions about an individual.
- Established guidance from emerging or disputed hypotheses.
- Relative risk from absolute risk when the distinction changes the meaning.
An article should explain important limitations and avoid converting a statistical association into a precise promise of extra years of life.
Attribution and review
Articles are published under Longtime, not under a personal byline. Every published article has a publication date and a Sources section listing the evidence behind its material claims. The byline links to that Sources section. A material revision receives an updated date. Cosmetic edits do not make an old article appear new.
Frank Mair created and maintains the site. He is a longevity enthusiast, not a clinician. Content is only described as medically or professionally reviewed when a named, appropriately qualified reviewer has actually reviewed it.
Editorial tools and automation
Software may assist with research organization, calculations, transcription, or proofreading. Published pages should still be checked for sources, claims, calculations, links, and final wording. If automated or AI assistance materially shapes a published work in a way readers would reasonably want to know, that contribution should be disclosed on the page.
Automatically generated or unreviewed health articles are not published.
Corrections
Factual errors are corrected promptly. Material corrections should be described on the article and reflected in its updated date. If evidence has changed enough that an article can no longer be repaired responsibly, it may be removed or returned to draft.
Please report a possible error through the contact page and include the article URL, disputed passage, and supporting source if available.
Independence and commercial relationships
Editorial conclusions are not sold to advertisers or affiliate partners. Affiliate links are disclosed near the recommendation and use appropriate sponsored-link attributes. A commission does not change the price paid by the reader, and it does not guarantee a positive assessment.
Advertising should remain visually separate from editorial material and should never outweigh the page’s original content.
Medical information
Longtime is educational, not personal medical advice. Articles and tools explain population-level research and general longevity concepts. They are not diagnosis, treatment, or a substitute for care from a qualified professional who knows your history.
In particular:
- Observational findings and calculator estimates do not predict what will happen to any one person.
- Do not change medications, treat a condition, start an extreme diet, or begin a supplement based only on something you read here.
- If you have symptoms or an existing diagnosis, talk to an appropriately qualified clinician before acting on health content from this site.
This applies to every article and tool on Longtime. We keep the notice here rather than repeating it at the top of each page.
